On this Thanksgiving day 2009 I am thankful for the following things:
1. Family – I plan to be with my family today, I have family close and will be with them for Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. I am thankful for having family, for having the kind of family that sticks together in life, whatever it may bring.
2. Friends – I am thankful to have friends that share my interests and push me to be a better person.
3. My Dog Bear – I am thankful for my dog who is always there to greet me when I come home and sleeps at the foot of my bed when I am sleeping and on the bed when I am gone. (That is the only time that he can get away with it.) He doesn’t ask for much, only a little food, water and a nice squeeky toy.
4. I am thankful for nature where I see the hand of God. Always remember to stop and smell the lavendar or hug a tree.
5. A job – I am thankful for the opportunity to be useful in this life, and to make a difference. Also having money is kinda nice.
6. The internet – I am thankful for this place that I visit frequently for pleasure, work, learning, shopping, news and friendship.
7. Giving – I am thankful that I have all that I need and that I can share with a few others that have less.
And if you are reading this today, Happy Thanksgiving Day to you.

The Politico had the following story this evening:
The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.
According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.
The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.
The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.
Politico asked the McCain campaign for comment, explicitly noting the $150,000 in expenses for department store shopping and makeup consultation that were incurred immediately after Palin’s announcement. Pre-September reports do not include similar costs.
Spokeswoman Maria Comella declined to answer specific questions about the expenditures, including whether it was necessary to spend that much and whether it amounted to one early investment in Palin or if shopping for the vice presidential nominee was ongoing.

And here is what I have to say. HOW DARE YOU!
You are full of Moose Poo!
Srsly now.. I contribute yearly to a worthy cause called the Los Angeles Mission, its downtown LA on 5th street where people live in cardboard boxes along the sides of the buildings. The shelter gives some a bed an a hot meal for a night at a time, and each Thanksgiving for the last 71 years they give out a full Turkey Day Meal with all the trimmings to the homeless or needy folks in LA.
The way I figure it, $150,000.00 divided by the cost of a meal $1.86 = 80,645 meals.
