It Looks Like Polution but it’s Snot – Rachel Maddow

From MSNBC an article states as the final paragraph that

“Items on sale at the Valley Stream Wal-Mart included a Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV for $798, a Bissel Compact Upright Vacuum for $28, a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as “The Incredible Hulk” for $9.”

How these items being on sale made a crowd stampede into the store killing a Walmart worker is beyond me.  None of them are anything I would want or need this year.  When I see so much greed it makes me want to barf.  What were these people thinking?

“Other workers were knocked to the ground as they tried to rescue Damour, and customers simply stepped over him and kept shopping even as the store announced it was closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.”

Kept shopping?  Someone is dead on the floor and customers kept shopping?  What were these people thinking?

Who is Damour?  From the NY Times I find that

“Jdimytai Damour was a big man — 270 pounds, by one account — but he was a gentle giant to his friends, who said he loved to chat about movies, Japanese anime and politics.”

So on Black Friday which is known for big sales or as Walt Ruebel says in his article about the good and the bad of the season,

“Black Friday is about taking — how much can I get, how cheaply can I get it and who will I have to elbow out of the way.”

or in other words it’s ok to trample another human being for the sake of a sale.  What were these people thinking?

What about the family of this unfortunate man?  From the New York Daily News I read:

“The family of the Wal-Mart worker who died after being trampled by Black Friday shoppers has hired a lawyer, setting the stage for a possible lawsuit.”

Will his sister and his parents ever look at the holidays again without remembering how this happened?  I think not.  I looked for a place to send a donation for his funeral, but could not find one.  I will update this post if I do.

Sending prayers to India and all those who lost family members in the Mumbai terrorist attacks over the past few days.  The ability to watch streaming video from India and see all the blog posts was so different from the MSM coverage.

Thanks MSNBC for the weekend prison special.  It was so informative I had to look elsewhere.

Thanks CNN for the Heros presentation.  It was lovely and brought tears to my eyes to see so many heros, but I really wanted more coverage of the News.

Thanks Fox but no thanks, you betcha.  Haven’t darkened my channel for at least a year now.  I would rather watch the weather channel.

Thanks India TV.  You gave this News Junkie the coverage I needed.  Still watching today.
